FastBots

Use Case

AI Tutor Chatbot Trained On Your Own Course Material

Students get stuck at the worst times: 11pm the night before a deadline, halfway through a worked example, on a topic you already covered in week three. FastBots reads your slides, PDFs and lecture transcripts once, then explains the material back in plain English whenever a student asks. It acts as an AI assistant for the course, not a generic chatbot.

Quick Answers About Course Tutor Chatbot

What is an AI tutor chatbot?

It's a chat assistant trained on a specific course, the PDFs, slide decks, lecture transcripts and reading list, so it can explain that material to students on demand. Unlike a general AI tool, it stays inside the course content and answers in the same language and examples the instructor used. Students ask questions in plain English and get explanations grounded in what they're studying.

Does it replace the instructor?

No. FastBots explains and re-explains the material, but it doesn't grade assignments, certify students or replace teaching. Think of it as a study companion that handles the repetitive 'can you explain this bit again?' questions so instructors can focus on the harder work of feedback, marking and one-to-one support.

What can students actually ask it?

Anything that's covered in your course material, definitions, walkthroughs of worked examples, summaries of a chapter, recap of last week's lecture, or 'where in the course did we cover X?'. If a question falls outside the material, you can set it to say so politely rather than guess.

Wie lange dauert die Einrichtung?

Most course creators have a working bot in around 5 minutes. Upload your PDFs, slides and transcripts, point it at your course website, add a short instruction about tone and topic scope, then paste the embed snippet into your course portal or LMS landing page.

How a FastBots Bot Handles Course Tutor Chatbot

Trained On Your Actual Course Content

Upload lecture transcripts, slide PDFs, worksheets and the reading list. The bot answers from your material, not from generic internet sources, so students get explanations that match what you taught.

Answers Questions At 11pm The Night Before

Students don't study on a 9-to-5 schedule. The bot is available 24/7, so the 'I'm stuck on question 3 and the assignment is due tomorrow' moment doesn't have to wait for office hours.

Stays Inside The Course Material

Set the bot to only answer from your uploaded content and decline off-topic questions. Students get help with your curriculum, not a side-tour through the open internet.

Antworten in rund 95 Sprachen

International students can ask in their first language and read the explanation back in the same one. Useful for cohorts where English is the second or third language for a big chunk of the class.

Walks Through Worked Examples

Paste a problem or quote a step a student is stuck on, and the bot can refer back to the closest worked example in your material and explain it step by step.

Points Students To The Right Lesson

When a question matches something you've already covered, the bot can say 'this is covered in Module 4, Lesson 2' instead of just answering in isolation, so students learn where to look next time.

Handles Student Support Emails Too

On the Business plan, Email Replies lets the same trained bot draft responses to inbound student emails ('when does module 5 unlock?', 'where's the assignment brief?') either auto-sending or queuing for a human to approve.

Hands Off To A Real Tutor When Needed

On the Business plan, Live Chat lets a tutor or teaching assistant take over a conversation when a student needs human judgement, clarifying a graded answer, discussing an extension, or working through a tougher concept.

Real Customer Story

How a FastBots customer is doing it

I'm Learning runs e-learning for 3,000 users on top of multiple LMS systems. Owner Miri's four-person team was being interrupted constantly by the same handful of course questions, login issues, where to find a recording, how to reset a password. She trained a FastBots tutor bot on the course content and FAQs and deployed it on the website, on WhatsApp, and inside several LMS systems. Call volume dropped dramatically and the team got their week back.

Reale Szenarien

Where Course Tutor Chatbot Earns Its Keep

Late-Night Concept Recap

A student rereads a lecture transcript at midnight and asks the bot to explain a section in simpler terms. It paraphrases the material without sending them to a forum to wait until morning.

Worked-Example Walkthroughs

A maths or science student stuck on a practice problem asks the bot to walk through a similar example from the course slides, one step at a time, until the logic clicks.

Glossary And Definitions

Business and finance students ask 'what's the difference between EBITDA and net income?' and the bot answers from the course glossary, using the same wording the instructor used.

Module Navigation Help

Students who can't find a particular reading, video or assignment brief ask the bot. It points them to the exact module and lesson, so the support inbox doesn't fill up with 'where is X?' emails.

Pre-Exam Revision Guide

Coming up to assessments, students ask the bot to summarise a week, recap key formulas, or suggest the order to revise topics, all from material the instructor has already taught.

Coding Course Lesson Pointers

Students paste a snippet of their code and ask what's going wrong. The bot points them to the relevant lesson chapter and the concept they should re-read, without writing the assignment for them.

International Cohort Support

Students whose first language isn't English ask questions in their own language and get explanations back in the same one, easier than translating dense lecture notes by hand.

Inbound Student Email Triage

Email Replies drafts answers to admin and content questions arriving at support@yourcourse.com, so the team approves and sends rather than typing the same answer ten times a week.

Haben Sie Fragen?

Common Questions About Course Tutor Chatbot

Die Fragen, die uns am häufigsten gestellt werden, bevor sich Teams anmelden. Sollte Ihre Frage hier nicht dabei sein, antwortet unser Support-Team an Werktagen innerhalb weniger Stunden.

Can the chatbot grade student work?

No. FastBots is an information and explanation tool, it can walk a student through a concept or a similar worked example, but it doesn't mark assignments, score essays or certify learning. Grading and assessment should stay with your tutors. We'd recommend telling students that clearly in the bot's welcome message.

Will it stay inside our course material or wander off-topic?

You decide. In Tune AI you can set the answer sources to your trained content only, write custom instructions telling it to stay inside the course, and configure a fallback message for off-topic questions ('I can only help with the Calculus 101 material, try asking about a specific lesson').

What kinds of files can I train it on?

PDFs, Word docs, plain text, CSVs, Google Sheets, manually added text and YouTube video URLs. You can also crawl public course pages and your sitemap. Material behind a student login won't be crawled, but you can upload the underlying PDFs and transcripts directly.

Does it work for non-English-speaking students?

Yes. FastBots supports around 95 languages, a student can ask in Spanish or Mandarin and get the explanation back in the same language, even though your course material is in English. It's not a substitute for translated course content, but it's a real help in mixed cohorts.

Can a human tutor take over a conversation?

Yes, on the Business plan and above. With Live Chat enabled, a tutor or TA can claim a conversation in real time when a student needs human help, for example, discussing an extension or a tricky concept the bot couldn't explain clearly. The student stays in the same chat instead of starting over.

Can it answer student support emails?

Yes, on the Business plan. Email Replies connects an inbox like support@yourcourse.com, reads inbound emails, drafts replies from your trained content, and either sends automatically or queues drafts for a human to approve. Handy for the 'when does module 5 unlock?' type questions.

Will the bot make up answers if it doesn't know?

It can be told not to. Set the knowledge sources to your trained content only and configure a fallback message like 'I can't find that in the course material, please post in the forum or email your tutor'. You can also review unanswered questions in the Knowledge Assistant (Business plan and above) and add the missing content.

What if our course material updates each cohort?

On the Business plan, Auto Retrain revisits selected website sources daily, weekly or monthly so the bot stays close to your latest content. For uploaded PDFs and transcripts, you upload the new versions and remove the old ones when the syllabus changes.

Wie viel kostet das?

There's a free plan with 1 chatbot and 50 messages per month, enough to test it on a small module. Paid plans start at $39/month (Essential). Live Chat, Auto Retrain, Knowledge Assistant and Email Replies are on the Business plan at $89/month. See the pricing page for current limits.

Is it private; could other students see each other's questions?

Each chat session is its own conversation. Course staff with dashboard access can review chat history in FastBots to spot common sticking points, so be transparent with students that conversations are reviewable. Don't ask students to share sensitive personal information through the bot.
